British Virgin Islands issue Certificates of Good Standing in electronic form

The BVI Government has launched a new service for owners of companies which is registered in the jurisdiction. Certificates of Good Standing for companies and partnerships with limited liability will be issued in electronic form.

Starting from December 8, 2014 till January 31, 2015 the certificate can be asked in paper and electronic form. Additional charge for the provision of the electronic version of the certificate is not provided - now the paid fee of 25 USD covers the cost of both options.

Starting from February 1, 2015 the certificate will be provided in electronic format by default (for the same 25 USD), but if the owner will need a paper copy, he can order it for an extra fee of 25 USD.

Electronic Certificate of Good Standing will have special protection which is not inferior to the protection of the paper version. In addition, the electronic certificate can be sent directly to a third party (a bank, broker or counterparty commercial transactions) on the request of the owner of the company.
